Mutual Aid Eastie thrives as a community-driven network where neighbors support neighbors. We’re not a nonprofit organization but rather, a collective of individuals dedicated to fostering solidarity and mutual aid in East Boston. Our network is a vibrant tapestry woven by the diverse voices and experiences of our community members.
Core Team: Steering the Daily Mission
Guiding our day-to-day work is the Core Team, dedicated to creating and nurturing community spaces. These community spaces allow members of our network to connect, collaborate, and engage in mutual aid initiatives that address the diverse needs of our community. Our Core Team provides essential support for neighbors while guiding decision-making to ensure the network remains responsive to community needs and stays aligned with its core values and goals.
Representatives / “Diputados”: Expanding our Outreach and Connections
Our diputados play a pivotal role in expanding our community outreach, facilitating 1:1 meetings, and collaborating on key projects. Each brings unique expertise, enhancing our connections and enriching our outreach efforts within East Boston.
The majority of our team, comprising eight out of nine members, including the Core Team and Diputados, are individuals of color. Six team members are immigrants, representing the rich diversity of East Boston. All team members communicate in Spanish, ranging from conversational to advanced levels, aligning with the language spoken by approximately 85% of our network.
Board of Captains
Our “Board of Captains” brings varied perspectives and affiliations, enriching our decisions with insights from diverse roles and experiences. Representing a tapestry of backgrounds, they counsel our Core Team, ensuring inclusive and empathetic actions aligned with our community’s needs and our mission.
